What you'll learn

By the end of our session, participants will be able to:

Distinguish TFL from alternative surfacing materials—including HPL, thermofoil, and natural veneer—by explaining their composition, manufacturing process, and structural behavior under real-world conditions.

Apply substrate selection and specification criteria—including particleboard vs. MDF performance variables, edgebanding requirements, and appropriate application environments—to reduce material failure risk in residential and commercial projects.

Evaluate surface and finish selection using the Visual Distance Rule methodology, incorporating viewing range to inform design decisions that balance aesthetics and performance.

Identify how TFL composite wood panels contribute to indoor environmental quality and sustainability goals, including CARB II compliance, FSC certification, and alignment with LEED v5 ID+C impact areas.
